Fugro sets new seafloor drill depth record with MARL SubSea drill

Fugro recently announced they set a new water depth record of 2,923 m (9,589 ft) was set with their seafloor drill, which was originally designed and fabricated by MARL Technologies for Gregg Marine of Moss Landing, CA. 

According to a Fugro news release, the record was set while completing a combined sampling and piezocone penetration testing borehole to 62 m (203 ft) below seafloor.  The achievement was accomplished with the first of two MARL SubSea drills, which Fugro have named Seafloor Drill I and Seafloor Drill II
