Need something truly out of the ordinary?  MARL Technologies can help. We've been designing and building custom and specialty drills, carriers and cone trucks for nearly 40 years.  Clients from all over the world have trusted us to help them bring some truly extraordinary equipment into their fleets.  Experience combined with a world-class team of design and fabrication specialists ensure your investment pays off with equipment that allows you to provide services to your clients unlike any of your competitors.  Find out why many leading firms consider MARL their secret weapon.

Following is a small sample of custom and specialty equipment we have built over the years:

MARL SubSea drill

Our client came to us with truly extraordinary requirements: they wanted us to design and build a remotely-operated drill that would operate in at least 3,000 m (>9800 ft) to retrieve core samples.  After three years of development, and with the addition of a subsea hydraulic power unit and telemetry system,  the SubSea went to work, setting seafloor drilling records in the process.  At 300 times greater than atmospheric pressure, the MARL SubSea withstands forces that would crush all but the rarest of submarines. The operator controls all drill operations fro a ship overhead, which may be positioned as far as four kilometres from the drill.  Greatly pleased with the result, the client quickly put in an order for a second SubSea drill.

Our engineering team was awarded with the Alberta Professional Engineers and Geosciences Association (APEGA) Project Achievement Award for this project, and achievement of which we are very proud.   APEGA states ""The winning project should demonstrate engineering and/or geoscience skills and represent a substantial contribution to technological progress and the betterment of society."

Coil Tubing units and Geothermal Installation Drills

Our client wanted to gain advantage in the rapidly growing market for geothermal heating and cooling systems.  They turned to MARL to build their specialized coil tubing units for loop installation, including their patented u-bend technology.  Pleased with the quality and service from MARL, they then commissioned us to design and build a better drill rig than they could find from any other supplier. The resulting fleet of drills, complete with sonic capability, allowed them to provide high-volume drilling that enabled rapid penetration under many soil conditions, while minimizing on-site equipment movement. In addition to these custom-designed drills, they also purchased several Fraste rotary drills for their fleet.
